A fine 19th century french violin made by Louis Gaillard circa 1870. A fine antique french master violin made by Louis Gaillard circa 1870. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows very regular and thin grain lines. The back is made of two pieces of fantastic flamed maple, the curl horizontal. The ribs, neck and head head are of the same wood, and original. Every detail shows a master hand in the purest french tradition. The f holes are wondefully carved, the corners and edges are masterly executed, the purfling is extremely regular. The oil varnish is of a rich orange-brown color on a golden ground, and is entirely original and in a fantastic state of preservation. The violin is in a splendid condition, near new, with just a tiny lower left f hole crack.
The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including tailpiece, chinrest, Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant strings : everything else is original, including pegs, soundpost and endpin. On the inside back can be found the original fire signature of the master, L. The violin is guaranteed 100% original and authentic.
The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality. The violin has a very noble mature, deep and warm sound, powerful and projective, a fine concert violin suitable for all repertories.
