A fine french violin of the Caussin school made by JTL after Guadagnini circa 1900. A fine antique french violin made in the Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy workshops circa 1900. The violin was made in copy after a Guadagnini 1746 model. The varnish has been beautifully antiqued at the time, in the spirit of Caussin. The top is made of two parts of a beautiful spruce, and shows regular and very narrow grain lines. The back is made of two gorgeous pieces of highly flamed maple, the curl descending from the center joint. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood, and original. The varnish, of an orange-brown color on a golden ground, is original and in a perfect condition. The violin is in a fine condition, with just a repair professionally made under the left f hole.
The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new set of heart shaped pegs, a new tailpiece, a Guarneri chinrest, a new endpin, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant strings. On the inside back can be found the original label, "Laurentius Guadagnini fecit Placentiae 1746", including the serial number "12". The violin is guaranteed 100% original and authentic. The violin has a beautiful dark and brilliant sound, easy to play and responsive, very sensitive, that will be a concert wonder. The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality.
