A Finely Bronze Cast & Early French Silk Ormolu Striking Clock

A Finely Cast Bronze & Early French Silk Ormolu Striking Clock. A delightful and finely cast french bronze gilt ormolu mantle clock.

The case is beautifully detailed with a female figure in what appears Elizabethan dress sat near a mandolin. The base and feet have wonderfully cast detailed mounts all of which have a delightful colour. The case is overall in excellent condition with some rubbing to back of the case totally consistent with a 150 year old clock.

The French silk escapement movement unusually has a makers stamp'Guyerdet Ainf? It has a count wheel and is bell striking. It strikes one at half past the hour then it strikes the number of each and every hour.

The pendulum and movement are stamped with the same number'3293' so all are original. Measures 14in tall 9.5in wide x 4in deep. It has a nice bezel and a silvered dial (needs re-silvering) with original moon hands. Both springs are good and fully wound while the movement is nice and clean.

The clock ticks away very well and is striking fine but I have not tested it with the pendulum attached. I do not sell reproduction items or copies, I also do not clean or restore my items but prefer to offer them in a genuinely sleepy state ready for professional restoration.

I often do have items for sale that are in superb'ready to use' condition and have many satisfied clients built up over 20 years.
