Welcome to Antiques & Bygones. ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY T BOXELL of BRIGHTON FINE FRENCH SILVER CARRIAGE / TRAVEL CLOCK No. A fine French made 8 day carriage clock retailed by Thomas Boxell of Brighton. Silver plated "Anglaise", glazed on four sides plus the top with a white enamel face, Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring with blue steel hands. All five glass windows are bevelled and reveal a beautiful engraved silver floral design.Runs beautifully and keeps good time. Complete with a replacement key to wind. Numbered 134 Circa approx 1875 - 1890. Please note: The case is not hallmarked but tests as silver on a small hidden area inside. Victorian silver was not always hallmarked.
The base metal is not brass or copper. Raised on four feet, the clock stands approximately 12cm high plus the superbly crafted handle. Width 7.5cm Depth 7cm.
