An absolutely stunning mid 19th century violin. It was recently played by one of the members of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. I can vouch for this as I play pretty much every instrument for sale in the NY scene. Meticulously restored and sound enhanced by an acclaimed New York maker and restorer.
Set up to perfection with new strings, pernambuco tailpiece, titanium tail gut etc. Although it bares apocryphal label Charles Jacquot Paris the violin is an authentic Thibout. It comes with a certificate of authenticity by the French violin making authority- Jean-Jaques Rampal. Stunning one piece back -materials and craftsmanship are superb. Thibout violins were so well made that they were often labeled and mistaken for Nichlas Lupot.
See article in the Strad Magazine from February 2019 entitled" Fit for a King". It goes into a great deal of detail on the importance, innovative approach, history and legacy of one of the most important French families of violin makers. The sound of this instrument is simply incredible. Fit for the most demanding soloist. If youre looking for a top playing instrument with character and 165 year old history than this is the violin for you.
Local players from the New York metro area are welcome to to play an examine the instrument by appointment.
