Fine Antique French Violin Labeled F. Breton Made in Mirecourt circa 1850
Fine Antique French Violin Labeled F. Breton Made in Mirecourt circa 1850. A Fine Antique French Violin Francois Breton Made in Mirecourt circa 1850. Good antique French violin made circa 1850 in the Francois Breton workshop. This instrument is strongly repaired, but belongs to the quality violins made in Mirecourt towards the middle of the 19th century. The top is made of two piecesof spruce and shows regular and thin grain lines. The back is made of a sigle piece of flamed maple, the curl very slightly descending from left to right. The ribs, neck and scroll are of the same wood, and original to the instrument. The varnish is golden colour. The violin is in a strongly repaired condition, with many repairs on the top including a soundpost patch, and a repair at the D peg. These repairs have been well conducted and have most likely been done by Jules Lavest in Montlucon, circa mid 20th century, (Note the bridge is branded Lavest). The back is crack free. The violin has been checked and revised, and has a new set of Thomastik Dominant strings, new chinrest, tailpiece and endpin. On the inside back can be found the Breton label, F.

Breton brevete de SMG la duchesse d'Angouleme a Mirecourt', signed Breton. The signature is also fire branded on the button of the neck.

The sound of this violin is amazing for such a repaired instrument, rich deep and mature with excellent projection and power. Our products are backed by our 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. New Gear: If youre not satisfied, neither are we.
