This beautiful clear glass paperweight, made by the great French glass maker, Baccarat, dates from between 1930 and 1940, the Dupont period. And it features a complex and richly coloured purple and yellow pansy surrounded by three green leaves. The centre of the pansy flower comprises a central red cane surrounded by two concentric rings of white canes.
The flower is set on a gently curving green stem, with two additional leaves. The base is star cut within a flat circular concave disk.
Condition It is in very good condition with no scratches, chips or repairs. There is a tiny white speck inside the glass just above the left hand purple petal, but this dates from the time of manufacture. The base might have been polished at some stage but there are no signs of scratches or chips on the globe of the weight.
I have had this weight in my collection for some 10 years and it has very seldom left its cabinet. It measures just under 1½ (4 cms) across the central base disk only or approximately. 2 (5 cms) across the entire base where it sits on the surface. The weight is approximately 1½ (4 cms) tall. It weighs 191 gms (6.7 ozs) before packing.
I always, as a matter of policy, use a signed for and tracked postal option and insure for the full value and I use good new, tough packing for which I make no charge.
