Fine antique French 18th century violin of the Chappuy school made circa 1780. Fine antique French violin of the school of Nicolas Augustin Chappuy made circa 1780 in Mirecourt.
The work is extremely close to Chappuy's ones (and rather of the highest part of his production), and only the lack of his brand under the button of the neck doesn't allow to attribute this instrument to him. The violin is in a restored condition, with a some repairs to the top. The head has also been repaired with cheeks. The instrument is ready to play. The violin has been revised in our workshop, including a new Despiau bridge, a new chinrest, a new tailpiece, a new set of pegs and Thomastik Dominant strings. The instrument comes with a new case. The violin has a deep, mature and very warm sound, with a nice projection and power, and is very responsive. A nice 18th century French instrument.
