Jean Striebig trained with prestigious masters such as Léon Mougenot and Amédée Dieudonné. Then he was the first worker for 8 years in the workshop of Millant-Deroux in Paris.He came back to Mirecourt in 1935 to open his own workshop. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows beautiful grain lines. The back is made of a single piece of highly flamed maple, the curl ascending from the left to the right. The edges work is excellent and the f holes are very finely carved. The head is also superb. The varnish, of an orange-brown color, is entirely original and in a superb state of preservation.
The violin is in a mint condition, without any crack or repair of any kind (just a few scratches on the varnish). The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new tailpiece, a new chinrest, a new Despiau bridge and a set of Thomastik Dominant strings.The pegs with gold olive ends are original and they still fit perfectly. On the inside back can be found the original label of Jean Striebig, "Jean Striebig, Maître Luthier, n°156, 1938". The violin is guaranteed 100% authentic.
