The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows regular grain lines. The back is made of two parts of a spectacular flamed maple, the curl descending from the center joint.
The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The oil varnish is of an orange-brown color. Paul Bisch belongs to the few number of the very talented Mirecourt makers of the first half of 20th century. His style is very personal, and his gorgeous instruments, still affordable, should gain in celebrity and price in the next decades. The violin is in an excellent condition, with just a tiny edge crack at upper left top near the neck and stopped by purfling.The instrument is ready to play. The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new tailpiece, a new chinrest, a new sound post, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. On the inside back can be found the original label of the Paul Bisch workshop, "Fini sous la direction de PAUL BISCH, luthier". The violin is guaranteed 100% authentic, and comes with its rare original certificate signed by Paul Bisch and dated 1934. We can propose a certificate after the sale for a little supplement if you are interested. The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality. The violin has a deep, mature and brilliant sound, with a good projection and power, and is responsive and easy to play.
