A fine and small mid 18th century brass lantern clock in good restored condition with the original verge escapement intact. Plain brass dial and front fret. Shaped and chamfered steel hour hand. Small brass frame with turned single piece frame pillar-finial-foot castings.
Alarm mechanism with alarm setting disc. These French lantern clocks were frequently enclosed in a wooden case and I think this was so with this clock as it is in such good condition with very little wear and tear. In working order, complete and ready to hang on the wall. At the top of the images below I have included short videos to give you an idea of how the mechanism runs.
Please allow each video to load before playing it through. The movement is in good clean polished restored condition. A little dusty on some of the horizontal surfaces. Not too much wear to the pinions, wheels and pivots. The escapement functions very well with minimal drop.
With wall bracket, pendulum, drive and counter weights and drive cords. Overall height of movement to top of bell finial 33 cm (13). Dial diameter 16.5 cm (6 ½). Overall movement depth front to back tip of hands stud to tip of backcock 14 cm (5 1/2). Plates 11.5 cm /(4 1/2) deep x 12.7 cm (5) wide.
