Rare & Fine Circa 1910 French Silver & Mother-of-pearl Miniature Clock $1,200+
A remarkable example displaying the highest caliber of silversmithing with repousse sides and back, and pierced front revealing an iridescent mother-of-pearl panel. Standing on C-scroll feet, the cartouche-form case decorated with a central cockerel, scrolling foliage, minute roses and C-scrolls. Pristine fired white enamel dial with gilt highlights, hand painted numbers and Roman numerals and delicate pierced gilt metal hands. Convex crystal with gilt liner. Gilded interior; the rear door carrying French hallmarks with metal purity.

In fifty years of collecting and appraising antique timepieces, I've never encountered a French miniature of this quality. Dating circa 1910 and doubtless produced in very limited quantities for a wealthy discerning clientele.

Even the back and underside are fully finished. In very well preserved original condition. Sole historic damage is one rear foot mended with excess solder at the join. NOTE: The hands set smoothly, although the clock is not running.

Should be acquired for its rarity and decorative merit. A skilled watchmaker can doubtless restore the movement to operating order. I will supply a properly fitting winding/setting key.
